iAnimate Master Classes at Pixel Mini

on October 24, 2013

Pixel Mini

Did you enjoy our Pixel Challange Master Classes we had a few months back? Well, we've got more. Pixel Mini Event (Pixel Challenge without the challenge) in Quebec City is a side event that will feature two iAnimate Instructors that will be held at the Loews Hotel Le Concorde on Tuesday October 29th during Cartoon Connection Canada, an international convention of animation and video game professionals:

Ken Fountain will be giving a master class on using attitudes and body language to interpret, simplify and caricaturize complex expressions in an animated character. Stephen Melagrano will talk about the process of creating an animated character, from its body mechanics to its emotional credibility.

The pixel event will happen during the Cartoon Connection Event on October 28 to 31th.

We're really pleased to bring these speakers to Quebec City. This is a great opportunity for animation professionals to gain in-depth knowledge and added experience.

- Louis Leclerc, general manger of Pixel Québec and co-organizer of Cartoon Connection Canada.

Turbo interview with DreamWorks animators

on October 02, 2013

In our 21st podcast, we get not one, not two, but three DreamWorks animators to discuss their work on DreamWorks' latest release, Turbo. They share some great insight on the challenges of animating charaters without appendages and many of the other attributes animators would normally use for acting. And how they adjust their workflow under crunch, and different types of directors. We were also able to have them answer questions from some of you, our community. Listen to Chris Kirshbaum, Luke Randall, and Dave Hardin, with guest co-host Jason Ryan, as they discuss animation.

Animation & Life with Jamaal Bradley

on August 07, 2013

This is an interview we did a couple years back with Jamaal Bradley while he was still working at Walt Disney Animation Studios and had just recently finished work on Tangled. This was a very casual interview during my visit at Disney, and though the sound quality isn't great, the interview more than makes up for it. The interview, as in Jamaal's words, "went more into how life's experiences affected my movement through the world of animation. A lot of 'real talk' and no fluff..." Enjoy!
