“Growing up, I knew I wanted to animate, but I didn't have any great options when looking at colleges in my area. I took it upon myself to learn animation, which proved difficult. I was able to grasp the basics, but I quickly realized that without guided feedback, I was moving too slowly. That's when I decided to look for some sort of online class and found iAnimate!
When looking at my options, I was looking at anim school, animation mentor, and iAnimate. All great choices, to be sure, but I found the more free nature of iAnimate classes to be much better for me. Not having grades means the instructors have a lot more freedom to teach what they feel is needed at the moment instead of following a rigid syllabus.
I had the pleasure of learning under some great instructors, but Mike Walling stood out as a great teacher for me. His feedback sessions often being 30 minutes or more per person, giving us detailed critique that has transformed me as an animator. I have learned how to be efficient and always think about the importance of poses. The reel that I created with my work from iAnimate was able to land me a job at Bungie! My first job in the industry and at such a great studio, truly a dream come true.” Fotios said about what he achieved after going through iAnimate workshops.
"Learn software on your own that's the easy part, but the art of animation is not as easily passed down through youtube tutorials. Learning from the best, asking questions, and getting direct feedback is the strongest way to improve,” Fotios said to animators who wanted to join iAnimate.
Fotios Eleftheriadis is a Character Animator from Queens, New York, United States. He is currently working as a Full-time Sandbox Character Animator at Bungie. He studied Associate of Science, Digital arts at Queensborough Community College and decided to improve his skills thru iAnimate. He was immediately hired after taking workshops in iAnimate. “Had I kept working on my own, I would surely not have improved at such a rate, but most importantly, I wouldn't have got the knowledge and connections that got me into the industry,” Fotios thought if he didn’t join iAnimate.
