Testimonial from Marcel Pontes - iAnimate Games student

Marcel Pontes testimony

"I chose iAnimate, because of the instructors, rigs, school structure, and the community seemed to be a step up in relation to the other online schools. I enrolled in the Games Animation program, because I'm a hardcore gamer and passionate for games! I want to break into the game animation industry and my main goal is to end up animating cinematic for games.

I'm truly satisfied with the program.

Testimonial from Stefan Iverson - iAnimate Games student

Stefan Iverson testimony

What did you enjoy the most in iAnimate Games program?

One thing that I really enjoyed was getting to know my fellow classmates and exchanging ideas with them every week in the chat room.

Also, I really enjoyed the whole process of shooting reference, blocking and polishing it along with the feedback that was given by my instructor.

Testimonial from Henk Kok - iAnimate Games student

Henk Kok testimony

I joined iAnimate Games to bring my bodymechanics up several levels. What convinced me in the first place was animation friends enrolled with iAnimate who where creating amazing work.

Its been 7 weeks now and my instructor, Richard Lico taught me very concise what was working for me and what wasn't. With his guidence and feedback, I improved my sense of posing, timing, workflow and when and how to add detail. I now not only move with elegance from blocking to spline, it also became a very enjoyable experience.

Not bad for the first 7 weeks. :)

Student Spotlight and Testimonial from Feature Alumni - Keith Glass

Keith Glass alumni

Hey Jason. I know you probably get a ton of messages so I will try (and fail) to keep this brief. I got my first animation job at Reel FX a little over a year ago now. Our first movie Free Birds just came out this month actually. Anyway. I have been super excited about the movie coming out for awhile now and just today I was thinking that if I hadn't gone to iAnimate there is NO WAY I would be working on movies right now. So I wanted to just say, THANK YOU! You brought together a bunch of amazing instructors who really helped me get way better. You got all the students some amazing resources to not let anything get in the way of doing our best, and on top of that you are incredibly generous with your time, and your positive energy was always a huge help! I still listen to your demos while at work. I still don't understand how you work so fast! I am always confused, you do, in a couple hours, what takes me a whole day to do. One of these days I am gonna figure out what kind of magic hotkey you are using. But anyway, I just wanted to say thank you, because I never really got the chance to do so in person.

Testimonial from Lu Ramos - iAnimate Motion Capture student

Lu Ramos testimony

Why did you enroll in our motion capture workshop in the first place?

Truth be told, I was hesitant to enroll into the Motion Capture Workshop at first. I spoke with Richard Arroyo, Head of Game Animation, about my troubles with body mechanics. He helped me see that working with MoCap would really help me learn and understand motion better, and was he right!

Are you enjoying the workshop so far? Is it what you expected? What did you learn that you didn't expect?

I have done a great deal of online learning and this workshop is by far one of the best experiences I have had yet! Having Brent George as an instructor with great energy, knowledge and teaching experience has made the workshop all the more enjoyable!

The workshop turned out better than I expected. It really showcases not just how to use MotionBuilder as another animation tool, but also how to use my animation knowledge and experience to shape the data into something unique and fun!

I didn't expect to learn so much these short fourteen weeks! I learned how to extract key poses from data, blend entirely different motions together seamlessly, and create game animation loops! The is so much cool stuff you can do with MoCap, its crazy!

Member Spotlight - Ravi Kamble Govind

Ravi G spotlight

This month iAnimate would like to showcase the work of former student and iAnimate alumni, Ravi Govind. Right after graduation, Ravi was hired by Kandor Graphics for their feature titled Justin. Shortly after his time there, he was hired by DreamWorks to work on their 2015 release of Penguins of Madagascar.

iA: What are you currently working on?
Since February I´ve been working in both development and production at Dreamworks India, on the upcoming "Penguins of Madagascar" feature film, with animation being entirely done at the studio here in the city of Bangalore. The movie is meant to be released in March 2015 and is a spin-off from the 2008 Nickelodeon TV series.

iA: What is the biggest thing you took away from your time at iAnimate?
The exposure to a huge variety of ways to approach, observe, understand and learn animation, and the liberty to share criticism with the whole community and the teachers. I barely felt shy of showing my own work in a very crude and early stage, because there were a lot of people like me, who looked for the same solutions and had similar problems. And the instructors had a very high level of professionalism, which you will very much have to embrace if animation is what you want to do as a lifetime career.

Testimonial from Samantha Youssef - iAnimate Games student

Samantha Y testimony

Hi!  I'm Samantha Youssef and I'm from Montreal.  I'm a 2D feature film animator and artistic director of Studio Technique, where I provide artistic training to various VFX, gaming, commercial and feature studios.

I knew about iAnimate Games through the iAnimate community as I was running a sketching group for the students there last year.  I had been wanting to learn to animate in Maya since I work with a lot of 3D artists, but with my workload I was having a hard time being able to commit to it.  I learned about the gaming program in more depth by David Hubert, and realized that doing the gaming workshop would be an excellent option for getting into 3D as it was extensive body mechanics.

iAnimate Games has been a great experience. I loved it!  The course content was really fun and engaging, but thorough.  I also learned so much about the how the animation has to be integrated into the game, how the systems work.  My instructor was amazing, and the community was fantastic.  The internal community had a great feel, it was a close knit group, and the instructors were involved in the community as well, and were there for us if we needed.
