Student Spotlight - Jean Mota
“Right now I really can say I am an Animator, I am ready, and it wasn't possible without iAnimate.“
Student Spotlight features Jean Mota, who is passionate about all kinds of arts! His motivations include learning new things and challenging himself. Jean considers himself an extremely curious guy, so that's the reason why he has chosen to be an animator.
After watching the outstanding iAnimate`s portfolio, Jean knew that it was the exact place he needed to improve his animation skills, with awesome classes, tutors, and materials. It is the main reason why he chose iAnimate to pursue his passion for animation. Currently, Jean is working as an Intermediate animator at ICON Creative Studio.
Student Animation Journey
Jean Mota took the following Feature Animation Workshop here at iAnimate:
- Feature Workshop 4 with Tal Shwarzman (Pixar Animation)
For Jean, the secret to crafting successful animation shots is all in the planning. He meticulously identifies every detail and story element, carefully mapping out the flow before bringing his vision to life. Jean also knows the value of using references to add a touch of realism, making his animations not only believable but truly worth watching. Here are Jean’s creative processes in doing his iAnimate assignments:
- First, off I started describing the environment, the moment, the energy level, what kind of situation, if it`s serious or not, just to be engaged and dive deeper into the shot.
- So I start my planning with a script, what action and choice the characters will do, looking around or fixed eyes in some places for instance. At this moment I tried to direct the "actor/character" writing my script.
- Then I shot my video references, thumbs, blocking (always in spline mode, please) as good as possible, and finally (and forever) polishing.
Here is what Jean learned and acquired from enrolling at iAnimate: Planning a shot, Feeling Timing, Character's personality, Acting choice, Design wise, Subtext, Subtle adjustment as well as Paying attention to details.
