Before I found iAnimate I had an extremely tough time figuring out Maya. 9 months of my life were spent jumping back and forth between mediocre tutorials, autodesk help forums, and giving up. It was frustrating, to say the least. Enrolling at iAnimate was one of the best decisions I've made. It gave me a linear path to follow instead of trying to piece together random tutorials. I thought learning Maya was going to be a slog and after enrolling at iAnimate I've come to realize that modeling in Maya is much simpler than I thought it was. I'm looking forward to enrolling in future classes!
I had used Maya for about 6 months before taking Rigging Workshops 1 and 2 at iAnimate, then I enrolled in the 'Maya and Modeling Workshop' with Sean Callan and I learned a lot with this class! Modeling, texturing, lighting, rigging, and animating; I learned a little bit of everything in that class, and some topics like texturing and lighting, I had absolutely no knowledge when I started it. Maya is an incredible software with an infinite number of tools, and Intro to Maya workshop helped me to have a better understood of Maya as a whole. Sean Callan also taught us how to use Adobe suites with Maya which is fantastic! I knew it was possible, but I had no idea how. Having a greater knowledge of modeling tools are currently helping me a lot in Rigging classes to paint better skin weights and do better blend shapes. I would highly recommend this workshop!
I knew about iAnimate via Jason Ryan's tutorials online, so I kept on the mailing list and finally decided to give online a try again, starting with Intro to Maya & Modeling. Good choice! It has given me a good opportunity to see how the school operates, the overall feel and the personalities involved. I'm already choosing my next class and where to go from there. Sean is a great representative and easy to learn from (and I FINALLY understand how to place edge loops).
