Jason Keane

Jason is an animator currently directing an independent short film. He recently left Bluesky studios after 5 years, animating on such films as: Epic, Rio 2, The Peanuts Movie, Ice age 5, and Ferdinand. His creative talents lead him to go beyond the duties of an animator being put on pre-production teams and character lead roles. Before Bluesky he worked his way up to Lead Animator at Rhythm and Hues where he also taught and lead teams in R&H’s satellite studio in Malaysia.

Jason is a Calarts Alum who got his start in animation learning how to draw and traditionally animate from his Uncle, Glen Keane, a long time Disney veteran and director of the “Duet” and “Dear Basketball”. His drawing ability allows him to extract the strongest poses possible that best express the personality of a character and the intent of a scene. He believes by doing draw overs an animator can break the confines of a what one thinks a rig can do and really give the character the freedom to shine.
